Giving Tuesday

Monday, November 30, 2015

As we celebrate Giving Tuesday, I can’t help but think how utterly amazed Sparky Anderson would be today if he was still with us. No doubt, the former Detroit Tigers and Hall of Fame Manager who founded CATCH in 1987 would shake his head in amazement of all that we have been able to accomplish in improving the quality of life of sick, injured and needy children.

Jim, Jim & SparkySince 1987, more than $6 million has been provided to Children’s Hospital of Michigan and Henry Ford Hospital to help children. In the past five years alone, CATCH’s annual contributions to the hospitals have grown from $299,000 in 2011 to $404,000 this past year.

And these contributions have an immediate and meaningful impact on the children and their families.

It could be helping with rent or utility payments for a family who has fallen behind due to an unpaid leave of absence from work to be with a child in the hospital. Or putting a ramp on a house, or a lift on a van for wheelchair-bound children.

Despite all that we have been able to accomplish together, Sparky would be the first to remind us that we still have much work ahead of us. And we know in conversations we have with our hospital partners, the need for the very things that CATCH provides for continues to grow.

That is why I hope you will join me by donating to our annual year-end giving program, which allows CATCH to react to needs of children and their families in a timely and efficient manner. Please click on the Donate Now button above

I hope we can count on your support so we are able to help even more needy children.

– Jim Berline, CATCH Chairman of the Board
